Step 1: which coverage are you thinking about?

Nothing here signs you up for anything. You choose what happens next.

Medicare Advantage

How Medicare Advantage works

A Medicare Advantage plan is offered by a private company approved by Medicare. It brings your Part A and Part B coverage together in one plan.

Most of these plans use provider networks. That is why checking your doctors matters so much here: a plan that works well for a neighbor can be the wrong one for you.

Many plans include prescription drug coverage too. Whether that works out well depends on the medications you actually take.

You can join, switch or drop a plan from October 15 to December 7. If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, you can also make a change between January 1 and March 31.

A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy cannot be used with a Medicare Advantage plan, so it helps to understand both before you choose.
